I’m not going to lie; I was nervous at halftime. Was Andre Drummond, of the formerly deceased Andre Drummonds, really going to lead the Sixers to a second straight win over a decently quality opponent? Thankfully, no. Unthankfully, it took Tyrese Maxey hurting his back to put this one away. Maxey is already playing with some hurt fingers, but instead of letting him heal up, the Sixers keep trotting him out there. He is reportedly traveling with the team to Minnesota for tonight’s game against the Wolves. DO NOT PLAY HIM A-HOLES!!!

Lottery Odds

After a brief stay in sole possession of the 7th worst record, the Sixers have once again regained a tie for the magic 6th spot. This means we share the same number of ping pong balls for the top-4 lottery, but the actual 6th spot would be determined by a random tie breaker. Does this mean coin flip, rock-paper-scissor, or guess-how-many-fingers-I-have-up? I don’t know. As of right now, both Brooklyn and Philadelphia are 21-39. Toronto and New Orleans both won since we last talked, so at least there’s that.

1 – 8.25%

2 – 8.5%

3 – 8.75%

4 – 8.85%

6 – 4.3% (Last time we were tied the lottery odds were based on winning the tie breaker. Why would I have such optimism? A fool, a fool I was. No more juvenile, optimistic assumptions. Now I am just cutting the odds in half.)

Total – 38.65% chance to keep the pick (6.65% increase)

Playoff Odds

The Bulls lost two days ago, so the teams remain separated by 2.5 games for the final play in spot.

(Note: If the Sixers qualify for the play-in but don’t end up making the playoffs, they still have a chance to win the lottery)

Per Basketball Reference, our current odds to finish in each place are:

10 or better – 17.1%

11 or worse – 82.9% (7.4% increase)

Odds of winning the play-in and making the playoffs – 2.9% (decrease of 1.5%)

For those who just want to watch the world burn:

58.45% chance of missing the playoffs AND not keeping a draft pick (decrease of 5.15%)

Games to Follow Coming Up

Numbers in parenthesis is the number of games ahead and behind the Sixers in the standings. Sixers record is 21-39 with 22 games to play.

March 4

  • Toronto (-2.5 games) at Orlando – The Magic have lost three in a row including one to this same Raptors team. KEEP IT UP CANADA!
  • Brooklyn (EVEN) at San Antonio – No Wemby, no problem, right Brooklyn???
  • New Orleans (-4.5) at Los Angeles Lakers – The Lakers have been quite hot since acquiring one of the best players in the world. Who would have thought? They are up to the #2 seed. Hopefully they are looking past the still-bad-but-playing-better Pelicans.
  • Cleveland at Chicago (+2.5) – Cleveland trap game on the front end of a back to back??? Please???
  • Philly at Minnesota – Anthony Edwards returned from suspension to score 44 against Phoenix. Encore Anthony, encore!!!
