11:39 JIHAAD CAMPBELL!!!
Never in a million years did I think we would get this Alabama badass on this team. Do you think he did either? Like just when he thinks he is slipping out of the first round when he is there in person, and he ends up in football heaven. Wow. Just Wow. Apparently this is the guy they wanted earlier and were trying to trade up for. Perfect.
11:30 EAGLES ON THE CLOCK
We just sent one of our 5ths to the Chiefs to flip 31 and 32.
11:23 Three Picks to Go
I can’t believe Will Johnson is still there. He must be more hurt than fans realize because this doesn’t make sense. I don’t think we would take Jihaad Campbell, but he is an amazing talent that I’m glad the Commanders didn’t take. Justin Simmons is another guy with injury history who could be a great investment in the future.
11:10 Five Picks to Go
We still have Will Johnson, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Jihaad Campbell, Darius Alexander, and Justin Simmons left. I’ve been reminded of Nick Emmanwori too. The Ravens just always make the right move and if you want your smart pick, you need to get ahead of them.
11:01 The Falcons Just Traded Back In
The Falcons are basically swapping 2nd and 3rds with the Rams while also giving them a nice stake in the crappy Falcons by nabbing their 2026 First. NO ONE wastes picks like the Falcons.
10:52 Giants are on the Clock
Please tell me they are taking Dart over Sanders. I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much. The trade was for #34 and a third and a future third from the Texans. A little rich.
10:50 Eagles Trying to Trade Up
Ian Rappaport just reported that Howie is in beast mode trying to trade up. We are in possibly two 3rd round pick or a future 2nd territory for moving up 8 spots. We’ll see if he can make it happen. There are a few guys left on our board.
10:36 Ten to Go
There are probably 6 guys I want with 10 picks left. It’s a lot more fun when those numbers are reversed. With 3 first round level QBs still available, we need to start seeing some trade ups. Full disclosure, I want the Eagles to trade out of the first round and think they will.
10:24 Pivot Point
No Shadeur Sanders for Pittsburgh and they take one of our guys. Walter Nolan went to the Cardinals, both Georgia EDGEs are gone, and now Harmon. If this had been Sanders it would have been a lot better for the trade up, but now it’s looking like a trde back. Still, a few guys that could be Eagles. With 11 picks to go, there’s Will Johnson, Malaki Starks, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Jihaad Campbell, Darius Alexander, and Luther Burden or Matthew Golden for my friend Danny. Josh Simmons could be a nice get too.
9:30p Taking stock of the Eagles
The draft is going more offensive with linemen going early. This is the kind of run that bodes well for the Eagles. Shadeur Sanders is dropping. This could create nice trade value in the back of the first round. Both developments are good for the Eagles moving up and moving down. By about pick 20 we are going to start counting down possible picks we want.
4:05p Eagles and Tight Ends
The Eagles have been linked to Raiders TE Michael Mayer and to trading Dallas Goedert. Don’t expect any news on either until Saturday morning at the earliest, if at all, because neither would go for more than a Day 3 pick. Plus the Eagles interest would likely be affected by their actions on Day 2, the most likely range to draft a quality TE. For what it’s worth, Mayer’s cap hits the next two years are $1.6m and $2m. I went into detail last month about Goedert, but the gist is that a draft trade would cost the Eagles $9m more in cap space but clean next year’s books completely.
3:00p Jaire Alexander Available
Not to the Eagles specifically, but if they are entertaining Ramsey you have to think they’ve asked about Alexander. His base salary is $16m this year and $18m next year with no option bonuses or guaranteed money left. That number could be restructured down to about $6m this season but he’s probably looking for a new contract anyway.
Verdict: like Ramsey, not bullshit but also not likely due to the probable new contract
1:10p Eagles Interested in Miami’s Jalen Ramsey
My initial reaction was he makes too much, and he does, but only this year’s salary is guaranteed. By trading for him, an acquiring team is not responsible for his signing bonus. That means his cap hit this season would only be around $10m. If he were to be cut before June 1, 2026, his dead cap next year would be around $15m, but around $4m/$11m as a post June 1 designation. If he were to stay, next year would be around $17m.
Verdict: not bullshit, but not likely
