Believe it or not, we are past the halfway point in the college football regular season. This doesn’t take into account the upcoming bowl and college football playoff games, but you get my point. We long for college football all summer. Then it hits us like Dog the Bounty Hunter about to take down some criminal low life, and we get lost in the excitement. Next thing you know, you are down many units (in my case), it’s the middle of the season, and your sports life is falling apart (again, in my case). I have admittedly established no track record whatsoever of gambling success since starting this series. You have no reason to believe me. Still, I’m asking you to stay in my corner. I genuinely believe I’m close. I am on thin ice as it is with Philly Front Office leadership and I just noticed that my articles aren’t even showcased on the site anymore during the week (they probably never have been, but it adds to the effect here)1. I need you to stick with me. I am even begging for it!
I have convictions for several of the marquee SEC matchups and obviously have a ton of overs I love. I am guaranteeing a winning week this week.2 Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
LSU at Vanderbilt (-1.5, O/U 47.5), Saturday October 18th, 12:00 pm EST
Vandy is coming off a bye, is at home, and will be very motivated for this game against the Tigers given that their last game was a loss at Bama. I realize LSU is a heavyweight, but I just love Vandy in this spot. I’m hammering the money line.
Ole Miss at Georgia (-7.5, O/U 57.5), Saturday October 18th, 3:30 pm EST
An undefeated Ole Miss team visits Athens for a blue bloods SEC afternoon matchup. Upon first glance, this line seemed high to me. But this is obviously a very difficult spot here for the Rebels. Georgia is out for revenge for their loss last year at Ole Miss and I think they cover this spread through success on the ground. Buy it down to -7 and lay the points with the Bulldogs.
Tennessee at Alabama (-7.5, O/U 59.5), Saturday, October 18th, 4:15 pm EST
Bama has come a long way since that week 1 beatdown by Florida State. There were some hilarious videos circulating the internet after that game of Bama fans losing their minds and calling for Kalen DeBoer’s head. Now, Bama seems like a shoo-in for the college football playoff after reeling off three straight impressive victories. Ty Simpson is awesome, fielding a stat line of 16 TDs to 1 INT and really clicking in DeBoer’s offense. Tennessee should put up a good fight, but I love the Crimson Tide to win by more than a touchdown. Buy it down to -7 and profit.
SMU at Clemson (-4.5, O/U 50.5), Saturday October 18th, 3:30 pm EST
Like Alabama above, Clemson is playing much better football of late. I took them last week to cover (unfortunately I didn’t post it in this article)3 and they covered easily. I like them again at home this week to beat a SMU team that doesn’t have a quality win this year.
The Overs
I have needs. One of those needs is the need for speed. But I also have a need for points. I think there is a great chance we end up profitable with this slate of overs. My advice is to look to buy these down at least a point, if possible.
Good luck boyz (and girls, although I would be absolutely flabbergasted to hear that a woman has read one of my shitty articles)4.
