There are few better feelings in sports than the Eagles going into their bye week fresh off a win and sitting in first place. Sounds like a relaxing weekend of watching 10 hours of football, right? WRONG! We have work to do. With the trade deadline on Tuesday, you need to sit down in front of that TV and aggressively watch 10 hours of football! It’s your duty. Put in the time, do the homework, and scout your ass off this weekend as we all do our part to improve our team!!! WHO’S WITH ME???
All of these games are the last chance for teams to make decisions on either going all in on this season or punting for next year. That’s what I am going to focus on.
Thursday Night Football1
- Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins
- Th Ravens are 2-5 but should crush the Dolphins this week. If the Steelers lose, Baltimore will only be 1 game out of the division with both head to heads on the schedule remaining. Baltimore’s schedule is a cake walk otherwise, and they are poised to go on a run (like I predicted). They need defense though, as much of it as they can get to deal with their injuries.
- The Miami Dolphins are in hell. They are a mismanaged and overpaid group that lacks talent and has even less leadership. They need to rip it down to the studs over the next two years. Despite claims that they will not be selling, they aren’t fooling anyone. Back your truck full of picks up because everyone must go!
1pm Games
- Chicago Bears at Cincinnati Bengals
- The Bears will need some luck to break into the NFC playoff race, but that’s not really their goal, is it? The Bears want to be competent with Caleb Williams which means they might go both ways. I can see them adding on offense while selling on defense, someone like Montez Sweat who would get them a nice haul to build for the future.
- The Bengals had one goal while Joe Burrow recovered, stay afloat. After losing to the Jets last week, they are on the verge of sinking. Now Flacco is missing practice and might not play Sunday. If they drop to 3-6, it might be time to abandon ship and sell, get something for Hendrickson while they can. A lot will depend on Pittsburgh since the division sucks so bad. At 4-4 the Steelers might throw a life preserver to Cincy and Baltimore.
- Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions
- JJ McCarthy returns for the Vikings conveniently when Carson Wentz’s body finally gave out under constant brutal pressure. Maybe they were worried that the Lions might literally kill him on the field? Not sure what Minny will do when McCarthy has to come out of the game in the 3rd quarter. All seriousness though, the Vikings will know if they are legit if JJ is competent here. If he looks lost, it is time to sell. They have a very narrow path to the playoffs as it is.
- After proving themselves against Tampa, the Lions are very obviously buyers. Last year they added Za’Darius Smith and it’s not hard to imagine them doing a similar move for pass rush depth this year. Considering the eagles are in the same boat, they figure to be out top rival in the market.
- Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers
- The Panthers are a walking trap game as long as Bryce Young plays. Young missed last week’s game but should be back just in time for the Packers to look past Carolina and toward the Eagles next week. They are in a similar situation to the Bears in that they really just need to get to competence with their QB. Maybe they try to add a bit to the offense, but look for them to stay put and try to let their surprising start play out.
- It doesn’t seem like it, but the Packers have the best record in the NFC. Since Week 1 they have been kind of blah. After unloading their guns to get Micah Parsons, the Packers probably don’t have a major upgrade to make. They are solid everywhere, but do not seem spectacular anywhere. Any significant upgrade would probably take the kind of draft picks they don’t have anymore. Look for depth on the defensive line and secondary if they even make a move.
- Los Angeles Chargers at Tennessee Titans
- The Chargers have been decimated with injuries on the offensive line but that isn’t a place they can easily upgrade mid-season. They also have almost no cap space. They find themselves in a familiar place of being competitive but not special.
- The Titans need to sell everything they can except Cam Ward and anyone else under 25. It’s that simple. Stop messing around with Jeffery Simmons and get a goddamn draft haul for him. He has the ability to change the NFL this season.
- San Francisco 49ers at New York Giants
- There seems to be a clear divide in the NFC between the playoff teams and the rest. That line is SF. They have some good wins and good losses while seeming to not be very special. That seems like competence without the talent. They aren’t going to get that talent at the deadline though and won’t sell from a playoff position either. This team probably expected to be worse this year which means they should stay put.
- Giants, do the right thing and sell. I know you have convinced yourselves you were screwed last week and the Denver loss didn’t count, but you have an extremely hard schedule and need to lock up a high draft pick desperately. Don’t mess around. I know Dexter Lawrence is your best player, but he could mean two very high draft picks. Think about selling Thibodeaux too.
- Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers
- Real or not, the Colts need to be buyers since they have the best record in the league. While most teams should probably upgrade their depth at the deadline, the Colts are one of the few teams who should be making a move for a monster like Simmons or Lawrence. A defensive anchor in his prime on a good contract actually fits their timeline perfect.
- If SF is the barometer in the NFC, then the steelers are the playoff gatekeeper for the AFC. They aren’t a contender but they are making the playoffs in that terrible division. How much will they go all in for Aaron Rodgers? If not now, when? There’s a dark future coming regardless for the Steelers so they might as well push the chips in even if it won’t be enough.
- Denver Broncos at Houston Texans
- Yesterday a Broncos fan scared the hell out of me by claiming a blockbuster was imminent and my heart sank thinking it was AJ Brown. He was trolling, but if that’s where my brain went, that’s probably what they need. If not Brown, then Jaylen Waddle of the Dolphins or Chris Olave of the Saints.
- Why did the Texans have to go and win last week? Instead of clear sellers at 2-5, they are still within striking distance of the Colts at 3-4 (and both head to heads remaining). Lose this week and they are 4 games back, they have to give up Danielle Hunter then, right?
- Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots
- The Falcons aren’t making the playoffs and do not have a 2026 1st. The team is really young though. Why not keep getting younger? Aj Terrell and Jessie Bates could fetch a premium at the deadline. Getting anything for Kirk Cousins would also be a plus.
- I am slowly coming to terms with the 2025 New England Patriots and Drake Maye. They have the easiest schedule in the world and it will probably lead to a Top-2 MVP finish. It’s bullshit, but it is what it is. The worst part is that their competence will likely mean they steal a pass rush target from the Eagles.
4pm Games
- Jacksonville Jaguars at Las Vegas Raiders
- The Jags have a tough schedule but had navigated it pretty well until getting demolished last week. They would be out of the playoffs today but have a much needed tie break win over the Chiefs with the Chargers and Broncos still on the schedule. I don’t believe in Trevor Lawrence at all, but this is not a team that should sell. Instead, it should be a scouring of the minimum contracts to find more solid depth without giving up too much.
- The Raiders need to sell, but that’s not what Pete Carroll signed on for. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Carroll is one and done because this team is nowhere near being a contender. They don’t have a QB, they don’t have receivers, and they don’t have a defense outside of Maxx Crosby. They should sell but probably won’t.
- New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams
- The Saints start a 26-year-old rookie this week which should tell you how good things are going. Their big question is whether they should keep Chris Olave for the next QB or sell high on him this week. A team like Denver could and should make the Saints an offer they can’t refuse.
- The Rams kicked things off this week by trading for Roger McCreary of the Titans (an Eagles target). Considering their GM trades like a crazy person, expect more moves. Plus, they are an inner circle contender in the NFC this year with the Eagles, Lions, and Packers. Everyone can use more pass rushers, but the Rams might look for a fast WR3 too.
- Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
- It’s not too hard to find the game of the week this week. These teams are getting each other at a very interesting time. Both teams were on a slide then faced some weak ass competition and declared themselves cured. Are they? I mean, if this is a good game, then we might not know. At the deadline, both teams should be buyers, but neither has much to spend. If the Bills could find a receiver and the Chiefs could find an EDGE on the cheap, they’d both go for it. If I’m a seller, I am holding these guys hostage because they know they need to upgrade to have a chance at the Super Bowl.
Sunday Night Football
- Seattle Seahawks at Washington Commanders
- Seattle just keeps rolling with only 2 close losses on their score sheet. They are a deep and young team that does not exactly have places of need to upgrade. Sam Darnold has a ceiling. Is getting more weapons the only way to slightly push that ceiling upward? I expect them to stay put unless its for a big name receiver, not unlike Denver.
- Washington has to be the most predictable disappointment of the year. Instead of building a young foundation around their star QB they brought in older guys because they thought they were ready to win the Super Bowl. They weren’t. Granted they do have 2 games left against the Eagles, but their playoff dreams might already be over with a loss this week. SELL THE OLD GUYS!!! It’s not too late to get draft picks and actually build your team right instead of doing what the Cavs did with Pre-Heat LeBron James. They aren’t going to start winning if they keep getting older.
Monday Night Football
- Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys
- There shouldn’t be anyone in the league who believes Kyler Murray is a starting QB for a good team. However, if there is anyone out there (J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS) they should try and make a deal either now or in the offseason. IT won’t happen, but it should. The Cardinals need to take their bad fortune and use it to get a new QB in the draft. Also, give the Eagles Calais Campbell please. Thank you.
- Our old friend the Dallas Cowboys crashed down to Earth last week, getting their asses handed to them by the Broncos. They are not a good football team considering their 3 wins were against the Giants, Jets, and a hobbled Jayden Daniels. They probably think they are just a defender away (LOL) and will probably buy, but the Cowboys are flawed in the same ways they always are: lack of discipline, under achieving stars, and big names over depth.
- This is the first time I’ve written this in time to mention TNF ↩︎
