As someone who cut their teeth with The Process, tanking is very familiar to me. You think tanking is your ally, but you merely adopted tanking. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see winning until I was already a man… Batman quotes aside, this is fun to me. Each week let’s look at the bottom of the standings to see who has the inside edge on the #1 pick in the NFL Draft. Plus, I need something to replace my Trade Deadline Primer.1
Notes:
- The official tie break is Strength of Schedule (“SOS”) rather than head to head, lower the better
- This is a ranking, not the current order
Dishonorable Mention – Washington Commanders
- Record: 3-6
- Overview: There is a clear difference between the bottom 7 and the rest of the league, but the performance of the Commanders over the last few days is something to behold. While being destroyed by the Seahawks, they left their young star QB in the game to get injured and probably be lost for the year. They followed that deathblow with a total panic freeze at the deadline. Instead of moving off their soon-to-be free agent vets, they just did…nothing. I think they were in shock. There’s a real possibility that this is a dead team that loses out from here. Keep an eye on them.
- SOS: .510
- Key Games: Miami 11/16, NY Giants 12/14
#7 – Miami Dolphins
