The chaff has been separated from the wheat leaving only the Giants, Raiders, and Titans at 2 wins. With high SOSs for all of them and a Herculean (but the opposite) matchup between NY and Vegas on the horizon, the Browns, Jets, and Cardinals lurk, ready to pounce. We are set up for a fantastic (but again, the opposite) final 3 weeks to determine the #1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
#6 – Arizona Cardinals (LW: NR)
- Record: 3-11
- SOS: .571
- Overview: The Cards have lost 6 in a row. Their SOS is trash though and you can make an argument that they should be in each of their last 3 games since the Falcons and Bengals stink and the Rams may have the #1 seed locked up by Week 18. It was out of their hands this year due to their incredibly competitive division, but they gave a good effort. They couldn’t make up for winning the first 2 games of the season. Imagine losing 14 out of 15 and still picking 6th?
- Remaining Schedule: vs Falcons, at Bengals, at Rams
#5 – New York Jets (LW: NR)
- Record: 3-11
- SOS: .536
- Overview: The least talented team in the league could easily lose out with only the Saints likely to give them any trouble. Unfortunately, it is probably too much too soon for the Jets who simply won too many games they needed to lose. They beat the Browns, Bengals, and Falcons. Real tankers find a way to lose games like that on the field. There’s always next year Jets fans.
- Remaining Schedule: at Saints, vs Patriots, at Bills
#4 – Tennessee Titans (LW: #3)
- Record: 2-12
- SOS: .576
- Overview: All of a sudden that sure loss to the Chiefs doesn’t look so sure anymore. The Titans getting lucky against Gardner Minshew is a hell of a lot more likely than with Mahomes under center. Just one loss would be devastating to their draft hopes as they could fall all the way down to 6th. The problem is that after the Chiefs, they get the Saints at home and then against a Jaguars team that may not have anything to play for in Week 18. This could get competent looking real quick and no one wants that.
- Remaining Schedule: vs Chiefs, vs Saints, at Jaguars
#3 – Cleveland Browns (LW: NR)
- Record: 3-11
- SOS: .485
- Overview: So much for that Shedeur Sanders good will. This is a barren wasteland of a team with only Myles Garrett as an oasis. He has to get traded this offseason, right? Like, what’s the point? Anyway, the Browns are SOS darlings and are primed to cash in if anyone ahead of them screws up. Plus, since the Raiders and Giants are playing and the Titans have the easiest remaining schedule, they could easilly end up the #2 pick when all the dust clears.
- Remaining Schedule: vs Buffalo, vs Steelers, at Bengals
#2 – New York Giants (LW: #2)
- Record: 2-12
- SOS: .536
- Overview: In his ten starts, Giants’ QB Jaxson Dart has been evaluated for a concussion in 5 of them. This is a team that simply does not know what is in its best interests. A mindset like that will not only get somebody hurt, but gets the Giants wins they do not want. With the Raiders coming up in a week, they cannot afford that kind of recklessness.
- Remaining Schedule: vs Vikings, at Raiders, vs Cowboys
#1 – Las Vegas Raiders (LW: #1)
- Record: 2-12
- SOS: .548
- Overview: What I saw last week was a team on a mission. The Raiders managed 75 yards in their shutout loss to the Eagles. That was a statement game. Though the loss of Patrick Mahomes could make the final game against the Chiefs a little iffy, next week’s Giants Raiders tilt should be for all the marbles. The schedule makers really knew what they were doing with this one. The Raiders get the slight disadvantage because they truly look like a withered husk of an NFL team. They put up absolutely no resistance in what is a totally lost season. This week, they are not only going to lose, but Houston might hurt someone.
- Remaining Schedule: at Texans, vs Giants, vs Chiefs
