For a series like Highlander, it’s kind of strange that they have given us both Connor and Duncan MacLeod. After all, “there can be only one” but they gave us two heroes? Then there’s Ramirez and the others from the show and who the hell was Mario Van Peebles supposed to be? What does good have to do with the NFL draft? Oh you already know, the #1 pick in the draft has come down to the final week and Highlander rules apply. There can be only one…

There are only two scenarios. At 2-14, the Raiders will have the #1 pick with a loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. However, should Las Vegas lose to whoever is starting at QB in Kansas City this week, the New York Giants can steal the pick back with a loss to the Cowboys. Since the Giants game is at 1, the Raiders will already know what needs to be done by their 4:25 start time.

Well that’s not too fun, let’s look at more picks on the line…

  • Right now, no team is sitting at 5 wins, which means the top 7 are set. Cleveland and Washington can move as high as #2 if the pack at 3 wins all lose due to an easier strength of schedule. Both really screwed themselves with wins recently.
  • Also because of that gap at 5 wins, the 6-10 Saints, Chiefs, and Bengals can’t move higher than 8th. With wins though they could drop as far as #12.
  • Speaking of 12th, that’s where the Falcons currently sit. Of course, it’s not really the Falcons. They traded this pick to the Rams for #26 last year. If the Falcons lose to the Saints (and other teams lose), the Rams could draft at #8 or #9 (it’s close on SOS). A win though and it could drop to #15.
  • The Cowboys are set to pick between 11 and 18. It stinks for them that because of their tie against the Packers, their 3rd easiest SOS advantage will be basically wasted.
  • The Colts owe their 1st to the Jets. It’s currently at #18, the last pick to miss the playoffs. The highest it can get is #14 with a loss (plus other losses) but would stay at #18 with a win
  • The rest of the draft will be determined by playoff results.

Back to Highlander real quick. To anyone who doesn’t know the series, it really should be awesome. Basically unkillable warriors battle through time until the final there is only one left. The more a Highlander kills, the more powerful they become. If they choose not to participate, they become older and weaker but still live. Their only weakness is to be decapitated, which means tons of sword fighting. The series explored the mental aspect of basically semi-eternal life and how that can mess with a person and their relationships both with normies and Highlanders alike. The concept Fs. However, the execution is a total disaster. Outside of the first one, the movies are terrible. I’m a world where good movies are constantly rebooted and destroyed, why can’t someone resurrect bad movies and bring them the talent and respect they deserve?
