Eagles Salary Cap Situation Post Free Agency

[UPDATE 2: Dallas Goedert signs for 1/$7m]

[UPDATE: Financials came out on Jordan Davis and they are interesting in a good way]

This is the fun part for me. Going into the offseason, the salary cap for the league was at around $301m with the Eagles specifically at around $312m. Since then, a lot of money has moved around and misinformation has been distributed wildly. The biggest problem is that we are still waiting on contract terms for some of these new deals. Anyway, let’s try to keep track of things below. (+/- cap space in parenthesis)

  • Jaire Alexander Credit (+$1m)
    • Today we learned that the Eagles received a cap space credit because Jaire Alexander did not report to the team at the trade deadline last year due to mental health reasons that were apparently withheld by the Ravens.
  • Michael Carter II Renegotiation (+$8.5m)
    • Carter was likely going to be released due to his $10m+ cap hit and $9m non-guaranteed base salary. Instead, he sticks around on a 1/$3m contract that is likely a minimum salary plus a $2m signing bonus with 4 void years.
  • Jordan Davis Extension (+$8m)
    • The big extension number of 3/$78m came out right away on Davis, and we finally have the specific financial info. It was assumed that the extension was added to his $13m 5th year salary, but that is not the case. Instead, the $13m is either part of the deal or was eliminated (depending on how you want to look at it). What does that mean? Essentially, this is a 4/$79m deal that knocks his base to the minimum and absorbed that $13m. His cap hit is $5m this year. AWESOME work Howie.
  • Landon Dickerson Renegotiation (+$1m)
    • It was announced today that Dickerson and the Eagles came to an agreement to lower his 2026 compensation by about $4m and to negate the final year of his current deal. There is plenty to speculate from a move like this, but for practical purposes it gives the team around $1m extra this season.
  • Tariq Woolen Contract (-$4m)
    • Woolen signed for 1/$15m but he certainly will not count as that much against the cap. Instead, we can assume that he will be on a minimum salary of around $1m with $14m of that coming as a signing bonus. Using the standard 4 void years Howie special, that means around $4m this year (but $11m next year if he doesn’t resign)
  • Braden Mann Contract (-$1.6m)
    • Mann signed for 4/$14m. We are still waiting on the signing bonus here too, but if you consider $1m each season in base, that leaves $10m in signing and option bonuses. I will estimate a $3m bonus that means around $1.6m in cap hit.
  • Brandon Graham, Johnny Mundt, and Grant Calcaterra
    • We do not know any of these contracts yet, but we can assume that they are all for 1 season, come with 4 void years, and will not affect our cap much at all. I’ll keep them here to update later.
  • Dallas Goedert (+$10.5m)
    • The numbers are out on Goedert and he just did the Eagles a solid…AGAIN. The total is $7m with a $4.25m bonus, but I am not sure if that means a $2.75m salary or something else. He already had $7.5m in cap sitting there, so I am going to conservatively estimate he comes in around $10m for now. This is the 2nd year in a row that he took well below market to stay with the Eagles. I hope they reward him when his career his over or give him a BG-esque forever contract.
  • Arnold Ebiketie (-$2.5m)
    • Ebiketie signs for 1/$7.3m, but we only know that his signing bonus is $4.3m so far. That means his cap hit could be anywhere from $2m to $4m. Knowing Howie it is coming in as low as possible, so we are estimating like Goedert here.

That leaves us at $32m.

What Else?

The big next move is Dallas Goedert. The void date on his contract has been pushed back twice now with the new deadline on Friday, March 12. He currently comes with a $20m dead cap hit that is already factored into the above. However, an extension would lower things considerably. He would have $7.5m this year + a $1m base salary + 1/5th of any signing bonus. If he gets a $9m bonus, that means a $10m cap hit and $10m extra to play with. This is why I have been saying all offseason that he is coming back. It makes too much financial sense for him to stay.

We can’t talk about the salary cap without mentioning AJ Brown. Currently he costs $23m against the cap in 2026. That balloons to $43m if he is traded before June 1. For anyone looking to trade him, it is essentially only possible with a Dallas Goedert extension. A trade after June 1 would mean $7m in cap savings (but a $27m hit next season).

I will update this as the offseason goes on.
