After the MLB Draft happens, teams and their picks do not have much time to negotiate. The deadline for everyone (except 4th year seniors without eligibility remaining and whom no one cares about) is July 27th at 5pm. The quick version of how this works is that anyone can sign for anything, but there is a limit to how much a team can spend total on their draft class based on slot values from the first ten rounds. Those values and savings are below. Everyone drafted after the 10th round can get a higher bonus than the $150k but that too is based on the total bonus pool. There is no slot savings for underslot signings from those rounds.

The Phillies bonus pool is technically $7,773,000. However, since MLB allows a 5% overage without penalty, the real number is $8,161,650.

Round 1 – Tyler Spangler

• Bonus:
• Slot: $2,758,800
• Summary: The #3 ranked HS player going into his senior year missed his whole season with back issues. That’s why he was able to be picked by the Phillies. He’s a natural shortstop with tools for days who is regularly described as “polished” whenever you read about him. The back was healed enough to participate in all pre-Draft activities.

Round 2 – Caden Bogenpohl

• Bonus: $1,414,000
• Slot: $1,416,600 ($2,600 savings)
• Summary: A 6’6″, 250 pound monster of a human being with tons of raw power and a great batting eye. Oddly he went from hitting 20 HRs as a freshman to only 6 this past season, so the swing needs some tweaks in order to max out his potential.

Round 3 – Ruger Riojas

• Bonus: $622,500
• Slot: $784,400 ($161,900 savings)
• Summary: Reliever turned starter who mowed down everyone as a senior but with surprisingly excellent control. Fastball gets up to 98 and could move very quickly as a 23 year old.

Round 4 – Deven Sheerin

• Bonus: $600,000
• Slot: $597,400 (overslot $2600)
• Summary: Local boy reliever (Reading) who took his 100 mph fastball down to LSU and shoved

Round 4 Comp – Jaxon Jelkin

• Bonus: $547,500
• Slot: $558,400 ($10,900 savings)
• Summary: Serious arm talent with serious red flags. He’s 6’5, 200 pounds and can sling it up to 100 but has already had TJ surgery and may have been dismissed from his freshman baseball team (or left voluntarily).

Phillies 2026 Draft Class

Round 5 – Will Gasparino

• Bonus: $430,700
• Slot: $433,200 ($2500 savings)
• Summary: Athletic but goofy in the Hunter Pence mold. Seems like an agitator based on some of his ejection highlights.

Round 6 – Macon Winslow

• Bonus: $338,800
• Slot: $338,800 (no savings)
• Summary: Was a catcher but then moved to DH where he had more walks than Ks. I’m assuming the Phillies still see him as a bat first catcher.

Round 7 – Bo Rhudy

• Bonus: $265,300
• Slot: $267,800 ($2500 savings)
• Summary: An odd profile for a reliever: lots of Ks, few walks, too many HRs, low velocity, long extension, tons of spin. He’s probably one of those guys who drives you crazy because no one can hit his junk.

Round 8 – Wyatt Danilowicz

• Bonus: $147,500
• Slot: $222,200 ($74,700 savings)
• Summary: A starter last year with bad results but a reliever previously with good results. I’m assuming they see him as the latter.

Round 9 – Cooper Consiglio

• Bonus: $197,500
• Slot: $202,900 ($5400 savings)
• Summary: The stats are bad (ERAs in the upper 6s and lower 7s), but he is only 20 years old and a lefty. Lots of arm talent apparently that just got worse as college went on.

Round 10 – Reece Maroney

• Bonus: $172,500
• Slot: $192,500 ($20,000 savings)
• Summary: NJ kid who makes all the contact with absolutely zero power and plays good infield defense.

Round 11 – Drew Titsworth

• Bonus:
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Best name in the draft doesn’t have great results despite a live arm and a funky delivery

Round 12 – Christian Coppola

• Bonus: $150,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Local boy reliever who struck out everyone last year (69 Ks in 37 innings)

Round 13 – Brayden Bakes

• Bonus: $150,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Short but strong hitter who reached base in 51 of 57 games last year thanks to a near .400 average.

Round 14 – Patrick Clemmey

• Bonus:
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: 18 years old with a 95+ mph heater with TJ surgery in his background but a perfect pitchers frame (6’5″ 220 pounds)

Round 15 – Owen Clyne

• Bonus: $150,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Another all contact, no power, infielder

Round 16 – Matt Quintaner

• Bonus: $150,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Started as a JuCo catcher who had a great year all around for Texas Tech this year. Might not have the tools but does have the results.

Round 17 – Adam Troy

• Bonus: $150,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: How does a guy named Troy play for the Trojans? Anyway, a reliever who his coach lost confidence in as the season went on but has the tools to play

Round 18 – Lane Haworth

• Bonus: $100,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: A promising freshman year led to a terrible sophomore year and a transfer to a lesser program where the outfielder picked himself up and had more walks than Ks.

Round 19 – Braeden Lipoff

• Bonus:
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Athletic HS catcher from just over the river in NJ. 18th ranked HS catcher in the country.

Round 20 – Justin Lee

• Bonus: $150,000
• Slot: $150k
• Summary: Reliever with a live arm, but only 1 decent college season
