The Eagles 2026 schedule is strange. That doesn’t mean it’s bad or overly difficult, just very strange. There is no murderer’s row stretch like over the last two years, so that’s good. However, we do have to play 4 teams coming off BYE weeks. I don’t have any long-term statistics on such things, but that seems like a lot. Other scheduling irregularities include only 8 Sunday day games plus 1 FLEX which means 8 prime time/standalone games during the season.
Here’s a little bit to know about each game…

The Eagles start the season with a divisional opponent also trying out a first time coordinator in David Blough. As much as we normally would like to have divisional opponents later in the season, getting this one out of the way early is ideal since they are playing without injured Laremy Tunsil. Better to get to his backup and with all things being new right away rather than later on. Plus, who doesn’t like starting the season at home?

This is the #1, ideal road game to go to this season. Not only is Nashville a great weekend trip, but the Titans will still be trying to grow into their new team. They added talent for year two of Cam Ward, but you want to see this earlier in the year as opposed to later. The Titans are coming off a regularly timed home game against the Jets

The first of many Primetime games for the Eagles comes in Chicago. This is a revenge game from the embarrassment that occurred last year on Black Friday. The Bears are coming off a home game against the Vikings. I will be at this game!

There’s good and bad news for this early season showdown. The good news is that the Eagles are playing at home, the Rams are traveling across the country, the game starts at 10a Rams time, and they have to play a good Denver team on the road the week before on Sunday night. The other side is that the Eagles are coming off a Monday night game in Chicago, so it’s a short week. This should be a great game.

After consecutive tough weeks, the Birds have to fly to London??? What’s that about? The only good part of this is that Jacksonville has to go from Cincinnati then back to Jacksonville before heading to London whereas the Eagles can go straight from Philadelphia. We’ll see how good Year 2 will be for last year’s new look Jaguars.

Here’s the first bit of bullshit on the calendar. Despite playing in London the week before, the Eagles do not have a Bye Week. Instead, they get to play the Panthers who ARE coming off a Bye Week! What the hell? At least the game is at home I suppose. This will also be the first chance to see old friend Jaelan Phillips on his new team and their rookie WR Tet McMillan.

Primetime game #2 is a big one against Dallas. The Cowboys are coming off a Sunday night road game in Green Bay in late October that should be a lot of fun. 6 games into the season should give us a good idea as to how far along the revamped Cowboys defense really is. This is also their 4th of a rough 4 game stretch that includes Houston and Tampa. The situation could really not be any better for the Birds. Hopefully they take advantage.

Primetime game #3 has the Eagles playing another team coming off a BYE week. I don’t like that one bit. While we faced the Commanders to start the season, by Week 8 and especially coming off an extra week of practice Washington could be hitting their stride. Throw in that this is on the road and this game has trouble written all over it.

For the third time this season, the Eagles will be facing a team coming off their BYE week. Granted it’s still the Giants and it’s a home game, but how many more times to we have to face a team coming in healthier than normal, rested, and with two weeks to prepare specifically for us? This will be the first time the Eagles get to play the new look Giants and rookie Arvell Reese. We’ll have to wait to see how many concussions Jaxson Dart has at this point.

This is an ideal BYE Week for two reasons. First, coming in week ten, that means we get nine games before and 8 games after. Perfect, right in the middle. Second, November 10th is the NFL Trade Deadline. Howie is one of those GMs who makes moves, so you can expect some kind of addition to the team. That addition(s) will get two full weeks of practice time before a home game in order to get acclimated to the team and his new home. This one worked out.

Well hello there Mike McCarthy! Good to see you back in a headset. The Steelers are coming from a Sunday night game at Cincinnati and then get another week on the road going the other way to face the Eagles. Granted, that isn’t much travel, but it can’t be fun either. Want to hear something crazy? This is the last Sunday home game of the season.

Naturally our Thursday game would be against the Cowboys on the road. Short weeks stink, so do holiday games, but doing both on the road against the Cowboys is typical of the schedule makers. Don’t try to tell me Jerry Jones doesn’t have a say in these things especially after having to face them on the road after playing notoriously taxing Detroit the week before. Anyway, in a cool scheduling quirk, this is the first game the Eagles will have to fly for since coming back from London in early October. With this game, the Eagles are nearly done their division schedule with only the Giants in week 18 remaining.

This will probably be Carson Beck under center at this point. No offense to Jacoby Brisset, but he is not there to win games or to be the QB of the future. Not to say that Beck is either, but this is going to be a bad team and by Week 13, the only thing going for them would be to see what Beck has. The Cardinals are playing against Washington the week before as the Eagles are coming off a long, post-Thanksgiving rest.

Third straight road game for the Eagles also happens to be the 4th time we play a team coming off a bye week. Considering the Colts are coached by elite schemer Shane Steichen who also happens to have a history with the Eagles, that really stinks. Of course, this will also be week 14 for Daniel Jones with a new contract, so we can hopefully pencil in that he stinks now.

The Eagles get an oddly nice scheduling gift in that Seattle plays Dallas at home on Monday night then has to travel across the country to Philadelphia for a game on Saturday. The downside is that we still have to face Seattle. No, it’s not because they are defending Super Bowl champs. That’s fine, I like that part. The problem is that regardless of how good Seattle is, they have a history of whipping us. Seattle has won 8 in a row and 10 out of 11. The last win was 18 years ago! This needs to change.

Primetime Game #4. Despite a second Thursday game (which stinks), at least this comes after a Saturday game whereas Houston is coming off a Sunday home game versus what could be a tough matchup with Jacksonville. We are now firmly into the playoff positioning portion of the schedule and what will surely be a VERY difficult test against a likely top notch Houston defense. It should be noted that this is the most wild scheduling week of the year. The Eagles play the night before Christmas, then we get 3 Christmas Day games (along with 5 NBA games including Sixers vs Lakers), followed by a full slate on Sunday, a game on Monday (Giants, but still), and then 4 FLEX games which I can only assume may come on Saturday as well as Sunday.

Primetime Game #5. For the most part, the Eagles schedule isn’t that bad travel wise. Before this game, Arizona will be the furthest West the Eagles will have to travel with Dallas being second place. That changes as we travel fully across the country to face a heated rival in what should be a huge playoff-type matchup. Both teams will be coming off of 3 straight games versus very good teams with SF facing the Rams, Chargers, and Chiefs (away). It should be a battle.

If this game is flexed, then something pretty shocking has likely happened in that the Giants have seriously overachieved or the Eagles have drown in their tough late season schedule. Hopefully, this game is a rest their starters type game so that no Eagles have to risk their knees on the horrible Giants Stadium turf. I would love if a team just forfeited one day instead of playing on that field just to make a point.
