The pitchforks are out for the Eagles after a pretty damning loss to the Rams. While I usually profile OTHER teams selling and the Eagles buying at the NFL Trade Deadline, I am turning that around this week. Who on this team can the Eagles trade and what kind of return can they expect. Let’s rebuild for next year while we are still angry

NFL Trade Deadline

Before we get started, I am writing under the impression that the team is not going to rebuild, just try to reload and restock. That means you will not see any mega trades featuring Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, or Jordan Mailata. Also, Dallas Goedert is a free agent, but because of his contract structure, a trade is not likely. No one wants Cam Jurgens.

Moro Ojomo – DT

Ojomo has been the team’s most effective lineman this season and will be a free agent next season. There is almost no chance the team resigns him thanks to new contracts for Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter who are unmovable. Considering he is likely to get a monster contract from someone else and thus possibly net a 3rd round comp pick in 2028, a 2027 3rd would be the floor in any trade. They could possibly get a 2nd for him because of his very low salary (less than $2m to the new team)

Riq Woolen – CB

Woolen has had a solid start to his Eagles career, but he only signed a 1 year deal. If he can continue to rebuild his value, he could be looking at a much bigger payday next year from somewhere else. I’m sure the Eagles will target a 3rd rounder, but he can probably be got for a 4th. Anything after that might not be worth it to the team to automatically eat an $8.5m dead cap next year and give up the possibility of re-signing him themselves.

Nolan Smith – EDGE

Smith is the only one actually getting any pressure on the defensive line, but it is not nearly enough for his 1st round pedigree. It just seems like he’s running in mud. By trading him now and thus not picking up his new renegotiated 5th year option themselves, the team avoids almost any dead money. Considering everyone always wants pass rush depth, they are probably looking at a 4th round pick as compensation.

Zack Baun – LB

I didn’t want to include him here because he is our best defender and it is not likely he gets moved, but it also isn’t impossible. Next year is his last under contract and it probably isn’t the best bet to assume the Eagles will extend a 30-year-old LB in the offseason, especially with Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter on the roster. It would not be crazy to think Baun could net a 1st round pick too considering it isn’t like the Eagles have to trade him and he would come with a pretty serious $22.5m dead cap charge next season (almost double the current $12m cap hit he’s scheduled for).

Jonathan Greenard – EDGE

Because I put Baun on the list, Greenard has to be on here too. Of course, he has barely played this year, so this completely depends on him having a good next couple of weeks. The Eagles traded two 3rd round picks for him and would have to eat $18m in dead cap next year to trade him, so the team would want significant capital in return. If they don’t get it, they will just roll the dice with him next season.

Others

The Eagles have plenty of other players who could move, mostly free agents who would garner a minimal return. I’m talking about the following: Elijah Moore (WR), A.J. Epenesa (EDGE), Tyler Steen (OG), Byron Young (DT), and Tanner McKee (QB).
