There’s a lot of negativity surrounding the Phillies at the moment (especially from me), so I figured I would take everyone on a drive through some of the team’s better and more fun memories. As you can imagine, over the last 140+ years, this team has done some pretty cool things. Here’s a look at what makes this team special…

Only a Few Players Ever…
4 HRs in a Game – Only 21 players have ever hit 4 HRs in a single game and yet somehow the Phillies have 4 of them:
- Ed Delahanty (1896)
- Chuck Klein (1936)
- Mike Schmidt (1976)
- Kyle Schwarber (2025)4
6 Hits in a Game – Only a few hundred players have ever had 6 hits in a game and 3 were Phillies
- Ed Delahanty – June 16, 1894 (one of 5 players ever to accomplish the feat twice, though the first time was not with the Phillies)
- Sam Thompson – August 17, 1894
- Connie Ryan – April 16, 1953
Unassisted Triple Play – There have only been 16 in MLB history, but the Phillies have 2 of them:
- Mickey Morandini – September 20, 1992
- Eric Bruntlett – August 23, 2009
20-20-20-20 Club – In 2007, Jimmy Rollins hit 30 HRs, 38 2Bs, 20 3Bs, and nabbed 41 SBs. There have only been 4 players to ever do this. In fact, there are only 7 players to ever do it without the stolen bases.
30-30 Club – In 2007, Rollins also joined former teammate Bobby Abreu in the 30-30 club for HRs and SBs. Abreu did it twice for the Phillies, in 2001 and 2004.
Scoreless Innings Streak – Cristopher Sanchez – 50 2/3 innings (5th all-time)
Hitting Streak
- Jimmy Rollins: 36 games (8th all-time)
- Chase Utley: 35 games (11th all-time)
- Ed Delahanty: 31 (26th all-time)
Hall of Famers
There are currently 43 players who have played for the Phillies in the Hall of Fame, but 7 of them went in with a Phillies cap on. In a year or two, Chase Utley will make it 8 and Cole Hamels has a good shot of making it 9. 4 more could be considered Phillies as well, but here’s the list:
- Robin Roberts (1976)
- Chuck Klein (1980)
- Steve Carlton (1994)
- Richie Ashburn (1995)
- Mike Schmidt (1995)
- Jim Bunning (1996)
- Dick Allen (2025)
Ed Delahanty (1945) and Sam Thompson (1974) should be in the Hall with Phillies caps considering they spent damn near their whole careers in Philadelphia, but their caps are blank. There are arguments to be made for blank cap pitchers Grover Cleveland Alexander (1938) and Roy Halladay (2019) as well
If anyone can think of anything else, please let me know and I will add it to the list.
