I have been betting on sports for a very long time, well before it was legalized, sponsoring sports leagues, and in your face everywhere you turn.
With this long of a history, I have obviously seen all types of losses. Losses where I wasn’t even close (like the time I bet on an interim coached Cincinnati team in the 2010 Sugar Bowl against the Tim Tebow Florida Gators, who promptly blew them out), losses where I was on the right side the entire game and then had a bad beat (like the infamous 2014 Popeye’s Bahamas Bowl on Christmas Eve that almost ruined Christmas that year for me), and then losses on absolute sicko bets that I had no business ever placing (like the time I bet on a random NBA over because I overheard a guy in a Hoboken bar bathroom saying that it was a can’t miss).
Everyone has their sports betting stories. But in this game, you need to have a short memory. This allows you to continue to lay it on the line because that next bet could be the one that starts the hot streak. Obviously, I have failed to deliver on a hot steak yet this season on PFO. I love the board this week, so maybe it finally happens? There is only one way to find out.
Delaware at Florida International (-5.5, O/U 55.5), Saturday, September 20th, 6:00 pm EST
I think Ed, minority owner of PFO, went to FIU for law school. Or maybe it was FAU? Honestly, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is this spot for FIU this week. Delaware is coming off a highly emotional home OT thriller against UConn last week. The Blue Hens have to now travel to swampy Miami to play in Mr. Worldwide aka Mr. 305 aka Pitbull Stadium. Pitbull, Miami, and FIU Football. If that doesn’t scream a winner, I don’t know what does.
Bonus: Pitbull Stadium is affectionately known locally as “The Cage” (IYKYK)
I love FIU to cover the -5.5 here. Daleeeeeeeee.
BYU at East Carolina (+6.5, O/U 49.5), Saturday, September 20th, 7:30 pm EST
East Carolina is frisky and will be playing in front of a raucous crowd Saturday night in Greenville. BYU is always solid but here find themselves traveling across the country into a hornet’s nest. These Mormon virgins won’t cover this one.
Give me East Carolina +6.5 (buy it up to +7 if you can).
Arizona State at Baylor (-2.5, O/U 59.5), Saturday, September 20th, 7:30 pm EST
This is a really good Big 12 battle. What got my attention on this game was Baylor only being a slight favorite despite fielding a very good QB in Sawyer Robertson and playing at home. Then I looked at rushing stats for both teams this season and it made total sense. Baylor gives up 188 yards per game on the ground while Arizona rushes for 232 yards per game. The Sun Devils are going to run all over this terrible Baylor defense.
I am taking Arizona State +2.5 (buy it to +3 if you can).
UNLV at Miami (OH) (+2.5, O/U 50.5), Saturday, September 20th, 12:00 pm EST
Another fishy line to me. UNLV is 3-0 and traveling to Oxford, OH (I have no idea where that is) to take on an 0-2 Miami of Ohio squad. You would think UNLV would be favored by more considering the hype they are starting to get. Someone knows something.
Considering who Miami has played so far this season (two Big Ten teams on the road) and the fact that this is an early start for a West Coast team, and it starts to make sense.
I have seen this story before. Give me the RedHawks at +2.5 (again buy to +3 if you can).
The Overs
I have had some success so far taking overs. It’s usually right about this point in the year when offenses start to hit their groove, you can identify trends with high scoring offenses and Swiss cheese defenses, and lock in on those weekly matchups that fit the narrative.
I am hammering all five of these overs. If you want to get really spicy, throw all five into a parlay and get nuts:
- SMU at TCU (-6.5, O/U 62.5), Saturday, September 20th, 12:00 pm EST
- UAB at Tennessee (-38.5, O/U 69.5), Saturday, September 20th, 12:45 pm EST
- Arkansas at Memphis (+7.5, O/U 62.5), Saturday, September 20th, 12:00 pm EST
- Tulane at Ole Miss (-13.5, O/U 61.5), Saturday, September 20th, 3:30 pm EST
- Michigan State at USC (-17.5, O/U 55.5), Saturday, September 20th, 11:00 pm EST
I need a winning week this week. I think it’s happening with this card.
Last Week: 4-6
2025 Season: 10-12
