Live Eagles Draft updates all day including news, rumors, and anything else you need to know about on Day 2…
11p – End of Day 3
Eagles don’t pick again until #178 in the 5th round. I’m exhausted.
10:15p – First Stab at the Jonathan Greenard Extension
You hear 4/$100m and you assume that it means 4 years for $100m. I’m not so sure. Greenard had 2/$36m remaining. I bet the Eagles converted those two $18m years into a signing bonus of $34m-ish and then took another $14m as an option bonus for 2028. That gives him $50m guaranteed in his first two seasons. After that he probably averages around $21.5m per season, but they are not guaranteed or expected to ever be exercised. Standard 4 void years too. All in all, his cap hit should be around $8m this season (maybe even less depending on the bonus). Next year, it would go to around $11m.
9:35pm – Eagles Select Markel Bell, the Biggest Man in the World
Bell comes from the University of Miami and he’s 6’9″ tall, 350 pounds, and has the longest arms possible basically. He started at Junior College in Mississippi before transferring to the Hurricanes. This past season, he started every game through the national championship and didn’t allow a single sack. He is only 21 years old as of today but will be 22 before the season starts
The plan here has to be to groom him as the possible Lane Johnson replacement down the line, but as the swing tackle this season just in case Lane or Jordan Mailata have any health problems. You can’t teach size, so the Eagles will try to teach everything else this season.
9:15p – Eli Stowers Update
The Eagles drafted Brent Celek in the 5th round in 2007 and he unexpectedly became a great tight end. Before Celek was done, the Eagles selected Zack Ertz in the 2nd round in 2013. Then before Ertz was done, we selected Dallas Goedert in the 2nd round in 2018. Now, maybe a year or two later than expected, it is Eli Stowers in the 2nd round.
His deal is that he was a QB when he started college with Texas A&M, but it didn’t go so well. He transferred to New Mexico and transitioned to TE before moving again to Vandy and taking off.
At the combine, Stowers put up the best TE numbers EVER. Literally the most athletic tight end we have ever seen. Kenyon Sadiq is right there, but these two have athleticism that the NFL has never seen before.
His big knock is his blocking. He’s a bit smaller and was not drafted to be in the way. It is what it is.
An interesting thing about him is that we are not going to see him doing anything stupid with his money. He graduated with a 3.92 GPA in 2024 then got his Masters Degree in Finance. That’s good to see.
8:45p – The Eagles Trade for Jonathan Greenard
The long rumored Greenard trade has finally happened with the Eagles sending #98 and a 2027 3rd to the Vikings. The Eagles fortify their defensive line by adding the soon to be 29 year old and giving him a $100m contract.
This is essentially getting Greenard for nothing. How? #98 was the pick they got for the Patriots signing Milton Williams and the Eagles will have an extra 3rd next year as the comp pick for Jaelan Phillips.
Greenard had a down 2025 due to injury but only in terms of the hard stats. He didn’t get to the QB as much as usual, but still won most of his battles and ranked 7th in the NFL in pressures.
UPDATE: LOL, Howie got a 7th this year (#244) because he’s a goddamn animal
8:35p – EAGLES TAKE ELI STOWERS
The Eagles just got a serious offensive weapon in Eli Stowers. He is 6’4″ and 240 pounds of pure athleticism. Look at this spider chart! The consensus #2 overall tight end fell to the Eagles without having to do anything. After 3 nothing years playing QB at Texas A&M and New Mexico, Stowers got to Vanderbilt, converted to TE and put up solid numbers the last two seasons. I’m not too thrilled about the 5 seasons of college ball, but he only turned 23 last week. Oh wait, breaking news…
8:20 – Three More Picks Until the Eagles
Emmanuel McNeil Warren and Eli Stowers are my guys. Caleb Tiernan would be good too
7:45p – Slipping
As of this writing we are on pick 43, just 11 away from the Eagles slot and there are a few names still on the board that probably shouldn’t be:
- Jermod McCoy – He missed all of last year and there is clearly some concern about his medicals right now. That being said, he might be the second-best CB prospect in the draft without the injuries. Yes the Eagles are loaded at CB, but talent is talent especially if he has to sit out the year. Of course, there is that whole Sidney Jones thing some of us remember…
- Emmanuel McNeil-Warren – the second best safety in the class was expected to go in the first round then with the first pick in the second round. He is still hanging around. HOWIE GO GET HIM
- Avieon Terrell – This is AJ’s brother and was also expected to go in the 1st round. Since the Eagles really aren’t looking for CB help, it would be nice if these two guys were picked soon.
7pm – Draft Time!!!
We are at 7 minutes per pick in the second round and 21 picks until the Eagles are up. Things are quiet right now, but that will change shortly.
4pm – 3 Hours Until Draft Time
The Eagles start Day 2 with 3 picks in the back pocket, #s 54, 68, and 98. Are they going to stay at those spots? Probably not. Howie Roseman is known for both moving up and trading back, so it’s anyone’s guess where the Eagles are going to do their damage. Damage will happen though. The Eagles have very clear needs at safety and EDGE first, then future replacements at tight end, right tackle, and maybe guard needed sooner or later. While there are rumors that a trade is in the works for Jonathan Greenard of the Vikings, let’s take a look at some possible names who could be there at 54…
| Safety | EDGE | Tight End | OLine |
| Eli Stowers | Caleb Tiernan | ||
| Oscar Delp | Emmanuel Pregnon | ||
| AJ Haulcy | Max Klare | Gennings Dunker | |
| Jalon Kilgore |
