NFL Draft 2026 Live: Day 1

Live Eagles Draft updates all day including news, rumors, and anything else you need to know about on Day 1…

11p – Eagles Needs

With the WR room now VERY locked up for the near future, what’s left for the Eagles?

I have to assume the team plans to trade for a pass rusher with Jonathan Greenard being a top target. While we could draft an EDGE at any time, that will probably not be a priority on Day 2. There are just higher needs at the moment in terms of acquiring players in the draft.

EDGE Targets: Zion Young, Cashius Howell, TJ Parker, R Mason Thomas

All of the top OT targets were gone by the time the Eagles got to the clock and Howie is not one to reach. Even though Lane Johnson is still great, getting his successor on the roster sooner rather than later is the biggest elephant in the draft room.

OLine Targets: Gennings Dunker (look at this Adonis!)…I’m not putting down any more names. He’s perfect.

Safety was the only real hole on the roster for next year and it was always the most likely Day 2 selection. Luckily that is a good spot to find value.

Safety Targets: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, AJ Haulcy, Jalon Kilgore, Kamari Ramsey

Much like Lane Johnson but to a much lesser extent, the Eagles need to plan for life after Dallas Goedert. The 2nd round has been kind to the Eagles at the position in the past, but with a group of 5 remaining at the position, the 3rd round could workd too.

Tight End Targets: Eli Stowers, Max Klare, Oscar Delp, Michael Trigg

10:01p – Eagles Select WR Makai Lemon

UPDATE: Eagles couldn’t get a hold of Lemon because he was on the phone already with the Steelers who picked at #21. He was who the Eagles wanted and correctly realized Pittsburgh was going to get him!

WOW! The world was waiting for this. The Eagles have selected a WR in the first round which unofficially ends AJ Brown’s stay in Philadelphia.

This isn’t about Brown though, let’s talk about Lemon. He is almost nothing like Brown in that he is 5’11” and 190 pounds. While he didn’t do any testing at the combine, his 4.47 40 at this Pro Day was unexpectedly solid. I love that he’s on the younger side, spending just 3 seasons at college and is still only 21 as of Draft Day (June 2 birthday). The sophomore year was solid, but Lemon broke out as a junior with 79 catches, 1150 yards, and 11 TDs (plus 2 more rushing). Stats

The slot value for the 20th pick is 4/$20m.

I need to breath and come back later.

10p – EAGLES ARE ON THE CLOCK

Trade with Dallas gets us from 23 to 20 in exchange for 114 and 137

9:20p – 10 to go for the Eagles

The Rams taking Simpson is huge! That’s a guy who was not supposed to be there and shifts the whole draft down a spot.

We are now in range for an Eagles trade up (I said 15 earlier, but close enough). Does that mean Reuben Bain? Monroe Freeling? Makai Lemon? Vega Iaone? Those are the 4 guys I would move for at this point.

To get to this spot, the Eagles would have to throw in 54 probably to go 10 spots and then down from there. The Jets at 16 would be who I am focused on for a move.

9:15p – Enemies Update Part 2

From the Dexter Lawrence trade, the Giants take Francis Mauigoa at 10. He’s a former top recruit out of high school who started at tackle throughout his career at Miami. The knock on him is his small arms that might keep him at guard going forward. Even f he stays there, he should bring stability to a Giants offensive line that has been in need for a decade.

The Cowboys then popped up a spot with the Dolphins from 12 to 11 in exchange for two 5s. For their trouble, they received Caleb Downs, the 4th Buckeye of the night. He’s damn good, but this wasn’t Reuben Bain thankfully.

The Giants are probably done for the evening but the Cowboys are still up at 20.

8:45p – Enemies Update

The Giants picked Arvell Reese at 5. This is a shocker despite Reese’s talent. This means they have Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and now Reese. Kayvon Thibodeaux is almost certainly not coming back at this point. If anyone thought the Eagles should skimp on the offensive line in this draft, the Giants are a good reason to believe otherwise. Protection is now at a premium.

The Chiefs moved up to #6 before the Giants picked. Did they think the Giants would skip Reese because of their current inventory? We’ll never know. Instead, in exchange for 9, 74, and 141 the Chiefs take the Browns pick and select Mansoor Delane, the top CB in the class to replace the traded Trent McDuffie. Just a bonkers turn of events.

Giants still have pick #10 to go. Chiefs still have #29 on their board.

Totally forgot the Washingtons were up next and took Sonny Styles, the best LB in the draft (by a lot). He is a former safety so you know he’s fast, but he’s still pretty big too; there’s no doubt he’s going to be good. Look at this spider chart! 3rd Buckeye off the board in 7 picks.

7:15p – Trade Ammo

Favorite reporter among Eagles fans Jeremy Fowler is saying that the Eagles have been making calls to see about moving up in the 1st round (whether that means up from 23 or up from 54 and back into the 1st is unclear). To do that, here’s what the Eagles have to trade:

  • Eagles first five rounds in 2027
  • 2027 3rd round comp pick for Jaelan Phillips (can’t trade it yet)
  • Possible AJ Brown return (2027 1st and 3rd?)
  • Tanner McKee or the return for a future TM trade (2027 3rd?)
    • I’m alone in banging this drum it seems, but trading him makes too much sense
  • Nolan Smith
    • If the Eagles go for a big name in the pass rush or trade up for someone, Smith is the logical return going the other way

That’s a lot of ammo for the Eagles to maneuver how they will, even if a lot of it is just hypothetical. Only Howie Roseman knows what he truly has in his back pocket.

5:45p – Eagles Specific Big Board

One of the best parts of the draft is counting down the amount of players you are interested in with the remaining picks until the Eagles make their selection. Here is who I am looking at for Eagles purposes tonight with some guys having no possible chance of falling. I only expect the Eagles to take from either EDGE, OLine, or WR with Caleb Downs being the one possible falling exception (I wouldn’t be upset with Kenyon Sadiq either, but it’s not happening.

4p – Jonathan Greenard Getting Greener?

The biggest Eagles related news of the day is that there may be a deal close to happening between Philly and Minnesota for EDGE Jonathan Greenard. This is an oldie but a rumor that won’t die because Greenard wants a new contract and the Eagles need a legitimate starter on the outside.

The second part of the rumor is that the Vikings want a good Day 2 pick for him. Yikes. I don’t think the Eagles are looking to shell out pick #54 for him AND give him a boatload of money. Greenard is nearly 29 and coming off a “less than” type season that saw him miss 5 games and not get to the QB nearly as much as he did previously (25 sacks total in ’23 and ’24). Still, advanced stats love him.
