The season long quest to tread water sees the Sixers at 10-8 after 18 games. That’s a solid +2 in my book. All I want is to finish at .500. No more, no less. Whether that means the Play-In Tournament or incredibly weak lottery odds is immaterial. Let’s take a look at where we stand and where we are going as the season hits the end of the first quarter.
Last Week:
The highlight of the week had to be Joel Embiid and Paul George both going from probably playing against the Magic to being ruled out before getting our sorry, injured asses handed to us in a brutally efficient manner. That one was real fun.
Standings:
At 10-8, the Sixers are just barely hanging on to a spot in the Play-In Tournament. We are currently sitting in 8th place just behind Orlando but in front of the Celtics and Bulls. Thankfully, the Milwaukee Bucks lost 7 in a row before winning last night giving us a nice enough cushion to almost making the playoffs.

| 15 | Washington | 2-16 | .111 | 12.5 |
Injuries:
Apparently, Joel Embiid almost played against the Magic on Tuesday before not playing then not playing on Friday either. Apparently, this is all for “right knee injury maintenance.” Remember, it was his left knee that has been injured the last 2 years. What is his right knee injury? We don’t know. It is being maintained though…for 10 straight games after tonight.
Paul George has a sprained ankle but played against the Nets. He is the most brittle human I have ever seen, and I have been watching Joel Embiid for a decade.
Adem Bona came back after missing a few games and looked bouncy and excited as ever.
As for new injuries, VJ Edgecombe has missed the last week due to a calf strain. No word yet on how long he will be out but he looked like he was in a good enough mood on the sidelines against Brooklyn. After trying to fight the Magic, Andre Drummond is day-to-day after sustaining a knee injury against the Nets. Day-to-day with the Sixers could be career ending, but we are optimistic that’s not the case with the surprisingly playable Drummond. Trendon Watford continued to show why he fits in so well with the Sixers squad by getting injured again, this time a non-contact injury to his adductor which will see him reevaluated in 2 weeks. Another death sentence.
Kelly Oubre remains out but should be evaluated next week. Remember, you can’t get re-evaluated until you get evaluated. He’s right on track.
