The Falcons are the kind of team that thinks its poor record is just a fluke, surely they are too talented to lose to the Jets! Instead, poor talentless New York ran into this Falcons team that has become some kind of bizarro trap team. Bad teams, watch out when the red and black is on your calendar. They have the ability to severely screw up your dreams of the #1 pick.

The Jets went from one of the favorites for the top pick to off the grid with just 1 win. That’s how tight things are. They now join a group of four sitting at 3 wins and they are well past the Browns and Commanders in terms to SOS. Despite being the biggest sellers at the deadline, the Jets are now old news. Just four teams remain in the hunt for the #1 pick…

Dishonorable Mention: Arizona Cardinals

  • Record: 3-9
  • Overview: The Cardinals are a long shot to actually get the #1 pick. Of all the non-playoff teams, they have the 2nd worst SOS, but they also have those damn Falcons circling them on the schedule. Still, they keep finding ways to lose and at least have a shot at losing out. They would still need a ton of help though. All 7 teams ahead of them would need to win twice. It’s a real shame too because they could use a new QB more than anyone. Of all the teams ahead of them that need new QBs, those teams need tons more than that too. The Cards already drafted their OT, DT, and WR. They’ve waited on pulling the QB trigger, but now it’s time. Hopefully they have the chance.

#4 – New York Giants (LW #4)

  • Record: 2-11
  • Overview: Monday was more like it for Giants fans. In the beginning of the year, I was questioning what a good season was and New York is threading the needle nicely. They keep losing games, but everyone is excited about Jaxson Dart (assuming he stays alive), and their coach was fired. This has been ideal. Still, they have 3 winnable games on the schedule so it’s hard to rank them any higher. Since they keep playing hard and losing against good teams, one has to believe they win at least one against the QB-less Commanders, QB-disaster Vikings, and Geno Smith-full Raiders. They took care of business against the good teams, but now the hard part is here…losing to the bad teams.

#3 – New Orleans Saints (LW #5)

  • Record: 2-10
  • Overview: Jets-Titans-Falcons is a murderer’s row of teams to get through at the end of the year for the Saints with that Titans game looming especially large. No team has their destiny more in their hands, but no team is going to have a tougher time achieving that same destiny. On a side note, I’ve heard people claiming that Kellen Moore should have never left the Eagles and might get fired. That’s preposterous. Everyone involved with the Saints knew that this year was not going to be competitive. Unlike the Raiders, this was by design. The whole goal was to play hard with no talent and get a high draft pick. Mission accomplished. I’m sure the hope was to get Arch Manning considering the family relationship with New Orleans, but with that not guaranteed, you have to think they will pivot to a different QB.
