Welcome to the first annual 4 For 4 challenge pitting the nation’s 12 cities with all 4 major professional sports teams against each other to see which is the best. Scoring is simple. We take the records of each team to see where they are in the standings, factor in playoff standings, give a bonus point for being a champion, and see who averages out the best. Results will be posted at the first of every month then averaged out at the end to see which team is the best. For a look at our competitors, see below.
| City | MLB1 | NBA | NFL2 | NHL3 | Bonus | Score |
| Boston | 9 | 9 | 17 | 11 | 11.5 | |

| Dallas | 15 | 24 | 17 | 9 | 16.25 | |
| Denver | 30 | 10 | 6 | 3 | 12.25 | |
| Detroit | 22 | 5 | 6 | 18 | 12.75 | |
| Los Angeles | 2 | 6/19 | 17/28 | 16 | Dodgers | 13.25-1=12.25 |
| Miami | 16 | 18 | 28 | 25 | 21.75 | |
| Minneapolis | 19 | 7 | 1 | 6 | 8.25 | |
| New York City | 5/25 | 1/28 | 6/17 | 20/29 | Knicks | 16.375-1=15.375 |
| Philadelphia | 8 | 8 | 6 | 7 | 7.25 | |
| San Francisco | 27 | 20 | 1 | 23 | 17.75 | |
| Washington DC | 21 | 30 | 17 | 17 | 21.25 |
1. Philadelphia – Phillies, Sixers, Eagles, Flyers
Back-to-back first place finishes for Philadelphia. While no team is/was tearing it up, Philly is the only city to be in the top 10 in all 4 sports.
2. Minneapolis – Twins, Wolves, Vikings, Wild
Minny with a shocking move up the charts from 5th to 2nd this month thanks to the Vikings 3-0 start and tied for 1st place in the NFL.
3. Boston – Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, Bruins
Boston drops from 1 down to 3 thanks to a rough start from the Patriots. Their previous 2nd place NFL finished drops all the way down to 17.
4T. Denver – Rockies, Nuggets, Broncos, Avalanche
4T. Los Angeles – Dodgers, Lakers, Clippers, Rams, Chargers, Kings
Denver is going to have a hard time removing the stain on their record that is the Colorado Rockies. They were the worst team in baseball with 104 losses and that will stay on their scorecard until April, but it’s not like they are going to be much better next season (if there is a next season).
LA expected to put up solid football numbers this season but through the first month the city is a combined 1-5. YIKES! The NFL was supposed to make up for mediocre NHL and NBA numbers, but so far not so good.
6. Detroit – Tigers, Pistons, Lions, Red Wings
While the Tigers had a bad season, they will be the swing vote on a possible Detroit resurgence come next season.
7. New York City – Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Nets, Giants, Jets, Rangers, Islanders
NYC is wild in these rankings. The Mets cancel out the Yankees and the Nets cancel out the Knicks to some extent (though they do get that bonus until at least June). Who thought the Giants and Jets would be competent though at a combined .500?
8. Dallas – Rangers, Mavericks, Cowboys, Stars
The Rangers miss out on the playoff bump and the Cowboys were 7 seconds away from being ranked 6th. Rough final weekend!
9. Chicago – Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks
If the Bulls and Blackhawks can even be competent, Chicago is poised to climb these ranks with an impressive Bears team and the White Sox set to improve on their #12 rank after moving on in the MLB Playoffs. A playoff dud for the Cubs won’t bring them down to bad.
10. San Francisco – Giants, Warriors, 49ers, Sharks
The 49ers are doing all the lifting in the Bay Area. All of it.
11. Washington DC – Nationals, Wizards, Commanders, Capitals
Nothing is really going well in the Capitol and the Commanders are not going to help things over the next few months.
12. Miami – Marlins, Heat, Dolphins, Panthers
The Marlins made a run at the playoffs for a while but fell short. The only thing the Dolphins are going to run at is away from the end zone. They might not win a game this year.
